Manny Pacquiao: 10 Little Known Facts

Manny main pic

It's no secret that Manny Pacquiao loves boxing and karaoke, but what else is he a fan of? Turns out, a lot! In honor of his hijack, we thought we'd bring you 10 little known facts about the boxer. Just call it our gift to you.

1) Manny's real name is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao.

2) He's a huge music fan!

The boxer loves karaoke and is the lead singer of Manny Pacquiao and the MP Band (Madonna Decena of 'Britain's Got Talent' is also in the group!). Check out his karaoke stylings from a performance with Will Ferrell on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' here:

3) Manny idolizes martial arts icon Bruce Lee.

BruceLee

He describes the way he fights as "like Bruce Lee," and even styles his hair like his hero, so it's no wonder that Manny was offended when Jimmy Kimmel asked if he was growing out his 'do to be like Justin Bieber!

4) It was love at first sight when Manny met his wife!

Manny was so in love with Maria Geraldine "Jinkee" Jamora that he would stop by in the morning to bring her food, but Jinkee's older sister didn't think it was appropriate for him to show up so early so she would politely accept the gift and then shut the door! Even though he was already a boxing success, they had very little money - he drove a used Toyota that was only worth about $500. Manny and Jinkee married at 19 and now have four kids - Emmanuel Jr., Michael, Princess, and Queen Elizabeth.

5) When he's not boxing or singing, Manny loves to play darts, billiards, and basketball.

And when we say Manny loves basketball, we mean he loves it. He'll play while training for boxing matches, and he even owns a team in the Philippines! He's the proud owner of the MP-Gensan Warriors, now part of the Liga Pilipinas basketball league. Want to know if Manny's got skills? Check out this video of him playing bball:

6) Manny is a huge practical joker.

7) He wants you to smell like a champ!

Pac-Man is giving Katy Perry and Britney Spears runs for their fragrance money with his new cologne, MP8: Scent of a Champion. The $55 scent is named after the number of world boxing titles he holds in eight different weight classes, natch. (They could have named it MP10 - Manny is the first boxer in history to win ten world titles. Yowza!)

8) The world champ is a big UFC fan.

His favorite fighters to watch are BJ Penn and Jon "Bones" Jones.

9) He's an actor too!

Manny has appeared in over ten Fliipino movies and TV shows over the last decade! His first lead role was in 2005's 'Lisensyadong Kamao' (Licensed Fist), and in 2009, he played a superhero in 'Wapakman.'

10) Manny went from rags to riches one KO at a time.

At 14, Manny moved to Manila to pursue his boxing career. He was homeless for a while but still sent money home to his family, and he soon turned pro at 16. But Manny has come a long way from his days of poverty - he was the highest paid athlete in the world in 2010 ($32 million!) and is a Congressman in the Philippines!

Pacquiao won by unanimous decision

Manny Pacquiao dominated an overmatched Shane Mosley to retain his World Boxing Organizationwelterweight title via a lopsided unanimous decision at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao repeatedly peppered Mosley with sharp combinations, forcing the American to be on the defensive for much of the one-sided bout. The Filipino champion floored Mosley in the third round with a right straight-left hook combination from which Mosley never fully recovered. After tasting the sting of Pacquiao's punches, the former three-division champion rarely went on the offensive and spent much of the remaining rounds trying to anticipate where Pacquiao's next blows would come from.

The three judges scored it 120-107, 120-108, and 119-107.

Mosley was credited with a knockdown in the 10th round after Pacquiao fell back on his behind. Replays showed Pacquiao was pushed and it also appeared Mosley was stepping on Pacquiao's foot. But Pacquiao was so dominating that round that based on the official scorecards, none of the judges gave Mosley the standard 10-8 score.

Outside of that phantom knockdown, it was all Pacquiao. Mosley was never into the fight, unable to get any type of offense going and at times already cringing even before a Pacquiao punch landed.

Pacquiao saw his record improve to 54-3-2 while Mosley slipped to 46-7-1 with one no-contest. The fighting congressman from Sarangani is slated to face Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12, while the 39-year-old Mosley will likely retire after losing badly for the second time in his last three fights.

The undercard matches in the "Pacquiao vs Mosley Fight" have already wrapped up and here are the results, based on live streaming updates from Pay-Per-View (PPV) and before you see it on free TV:

Pier Olivier Cote (Canada) wins by 4th Round TKO vs Aris Ambriz (USA)

Mike Alvarado wins by 3rd Round TKO vs Ray Narh

Kelly Pavlik wins by major decision vs Alfonso Lopez

Jorge Arce wins by 12th Round TKO vs Wilfredo Vasquez

As for the main event of the evening, Shane Mosley off to a great start, owning the first round, but Manny Pacquiao, just like any of his fights, warms up during the first round and is now in control of the next rounds.

Round 1 for Mosley
Round 2 for Pacquiao
Round 3 for Pacquiao
